01 — The editor

Everything Markdown can do, rendered in place.

No preview pane to babysit. Headings, lists, tables, diagrams and math look finished the moment you type them.

Image
Lisbon, day one

Took this from the Santa Luzia viewpoint, just before the trams stopped.

Saved as plain Markdown, ready to export as .md

No syntax to memorise

Paste an image from your clipboard, upload one from your computer, or insert a link to one online. It shows up as a picture, not a line of syntax. Checklists, headings and tables work the same way.

Diagram

Diagrams in the doc

Insert a diagram and it draws itself right where you're writing.

E = mc2

Math that looks like math

Write formulas in TeX and read them properly typeset.

slugify.ts TypeScript
export function slugify(title: string) {
  return title
    .toLowerCase()
    .replace(/[^a-z0-9]+/g, "-");
}

Code blocks that respect code

Name the file, pick the language, and keep every indent exactly as written.

02 — The details

And the small things that add up.

Folders, search, history and the rest of what makes a day of writing easy. Hover a card to see it work.

Folders and pins
Group docs, and pin the ones you need most to the top.
Outline
Jump between headings in long docs.
Focus mode
Hide everything but the page you are writing.
Light and dark
Write comfortably at any hour.
Sync
Sign in and your docs follow you to every device.
Details and footnotes
Fold long sections away and keep sources at the bottom.
Templates and blocks
Type / to add a table or a diagram, or start from a template.
Open .md files
Drop a Markdown file in and keep writing where you left off.
03 — Sharing

One link. Your terms.

Share a single doc without opening up your whole workspace, and decide exactly how long and how far it travels.

View or edit access
Keep it private, let anyone with the link read, or let them edit once signed in.
Links that expire
Set a link to stop working after a day, a week or a month.
A link people can remember
Replace the random ending with your own words.
Hidden from search by default
Shared docs stay out of search engines unless you switch it on. Stop sharing or reset the link any time.

Or publish a whole folder.

Every doc in the folder becomes a page, with a sidebar to move between them, all at one address. Handbooks, guides and notes for a class, kept up to date as you write.

04 — MCP

Your agents can write here too.

markpad speaks the Model Context Protocol. Connect Claude Code or any MCP client and it can create docs for you. Each one gets a mark in the sidebar, so you always know who wrote what.

Connect an agent

Writing your own scripts? There's a REST API too.

Take your words anywhere.

Every doc exports as clean Markdown, a print-ready PDF or a single web page. No lock-in, no conversion step.

Markdown.md
Plain text that opens anywhere.
PDF.pdf
For printing and sending.
Web page.html
One file you can open anywhere.
Copy markdown
The doc's text, straight to your clipboard.
